UrbanX Takes Flight in Style with Miami Fashion Week Launch Party

MIAMI – January 25, 2024 – UrbanX Air – a newly launched company pioneering the integration of urban air mobility in South Florida, is excited to announce a strategic collaboration with Miami Fashion Week upon its highly anticipated return. This groundbreaking partnership brings together cutting-edge aircraft technology and high fashion, poised to revolutionize the future of transportation and style in Miami.

As UrbanX gears up to introduce vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOLs) in Miami-Dade County by 2027, utilizing a social enterprise business model and public-private partnership, the collaboration with Miami Fashion Week - one of the county’s most exciting events - showcases UrbanX’s commitment to community enrichment. For 26 years, MIAFW has served as a vibrant platform for Miami-Dade County to celebrate fashion as art, culture, and lifestyle, uniting style enthusiasts from around the world.

“It is important to give back to the community in which you do business,” said Lucy Morillo, Esq., President & CEO of UrbanX. “Miami Fashion Week casts a global spotlight on Miami-Dade County that goes beyond the runway, and we are proud to be a part of it. The collaboration with Miami Fashion Week is more than a partnership; it’s a commitment to a more sustainable and vibrant future for Miami-Dade County.”

The collaboration between UrbanX and Miami Fashion Week is driven by a shared commitment to community, innovation, and sustainability. UrbanX is at the forefront of revolutionizing air travel with the introduction of all-electric, environmentally friendly transport in dense urban environments like Miami-Dade County. Simultaneously, Miami Fashion Week brings together change makers to explore and discuss sustainable style and eco-friendly approaches to design. Together, UrbanX and Miami Fashion Week aspire to pave the way for a more sustainable and interconnected future.

The convergence of fashion and air travel will come together at the UrbanX launch party in collaboration with Miami Fashion Week on Friday, January 26 at the iconic venue Gary Nader Art Centre in Miami. The exclusive event will feature a fashion show by Miami artist and fashion designer LISU VEGA, renowned for her use of recycled ropes, found materials, poly silk, and other textile materials. During the event, VEGA will showcase her exclusive uniform designs for UrbanX as well as the latest trends from her collection. The use of recycled materials continually defines VEGA as a sustainable designer that combines the relevance of traditional processes and contemporary art.

In November, UrbanX announced plans to launch electric commuter flights throughout the South Florida area beginning in 2027 (subject to receiving all FAA and DOT approvals), marking a pivotal initial phase in transforming electric air commuting into a reality for South Florida residents. Since this announcement, UrbanX has proactively collaborated with its partners at Eve Air Mobility as well as local and state officials along with infrastructure, energy and technology providers in a concerted effort to build the UAM ecosystem in Miami-Dade County.  Operating under a social enterprise business model, UrbanX is committed to working in tandem with local governments and key stakeholders, ensuring that the services offered not only meet the high standards of safety and efficiency but also contribute positively to the surrounding community, fostering meaningful change.
